<image:title>Into the Wild Bus - Daybreak</image:title>
<image:caption>The Into The Wild bus photos are very special to me. In 2014, I hiked to the bus Christopher McCandless called home for 100 days. The story of Chris McCandless which was popularized in the book and film Into The Wild was a very big inspiration for me to move to Canada.
I travelled to Alaska from Canada at the end of my first visa for the sole reason of seeing the bus with my eye own eyes. It was a two-day hike to get to the bus, 52km total round trip. Crossing the Teklanika River was exceptionally difficult and nearly forced us to turn back (several people have died attempting to cross).
Sleeping in the bus was the most peaceful, tranquil rest of my entire life. In such a busy world it felt like I was in the exact place I was meant to be.
I was still quite pretty new to photography at the time, I had my old Canon 7D Mk 1. Still so happy with how the images turned out.</image:caption>

 <image:title>Canmore Engine Bridge</image:title>
<image:caption>The Canmore Engine Bridge was built by the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) in 1891 on a railroad spur line to serve a coal mine. The old rail spur is now the Bow River Loop Trail. The main span of this bridge actually dates to 1880. It appears to have been salvaged from another bridge, a two-span Whipple truss that had its truss lines doubled up to create a single, stronger span.
I had wanted to photograph this bridge for quite some time, I found a unique want to photograph it was to place my camera directly onto the bridge frame to encase Mount Grassi within the steel structure of the bridge. The sunset hit perfectly during this time to create quite a scene!</image:caption>

<image:caption>I had my eye on this location in Jasper for quite some time however photographing trains can be tricky given the irregularity of their schedule. I was on a morning shoot in April 2020, the National Park was closed to visitors due to the Covid Pandemic so I had the entire area to myself. As I was crossing the tracks I saw this locomotive moving slowly towards the town with Whistler's Mountain positioned perfectly behind the train. I quickly adjusted my settings and captured this image which I am in love with. Sometimes you can try to capture an image for months before the right moment presents itself. </image:caption>

The Athabasca River forks around this lone island and pours down into the falls. Sunwapta is actually a Stoney language word meaning "turbulent water."</image:caption>

<image:caption>Melbourne is frequently treated to epic sunsets, on this particular evening a strong gale had been battering the coast all day. When I arrived at Mordialloc Pier to shoot I was greeted with tremendously fierce winds, the ocean was battering the pier and waves were actually rising up through the planks. This image shows the last moments of the sunset, the sun was able to briefly pierce through the clouds on what had been just moments before a quite miserable evening. You never know when moments of magic will happen on a shoot. </image:caption>

 <image:title>Magic Bus 142 Alaska</image:title>
<image:caption>This photo is very special to me.
This was the very first photo I took of the bus that I captured within a few minutes of arriving.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Morant's Curve is possibly my favourite location in Banff National Park. Watching trains taking the curve at speed while framed by the most beautiful snow-capped mountains in the Rockies. This image was captured in April 2017 and was my first ever sighting of a train here, I was stationed on a hill for more than an hour before this CP train came past. One of my all-time favourite photographs.</image:caption>

 <image:title>Princess</image:title>
<image:caption>Princes Pier is a 580-metre-long historic pier on Port Phillip, in Port Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It was known as the New Railway Pier until renamed Prince's Pier after the Prince of Wales who visited Melbourne in May 1920.
With the containerization boom the pier became unused, being closed to public access in the early 1990s due to the poor timber condition, and squatters caused a fire in the late 1990s that destroyed the store structures. In the three years to 2004, 14 fires occurred. The first 196 metres of the Pier were fully restored in 2006, beyond that point the decking was removed and the original pylons preserved in what you see here.
What remains is now an iconic photo location of a small piece of history for the city of Melbourne.</image:caption>

 <image:title>Stairway to Heaven Jasper</image:title>
<image:caption>Medicine Lake is a geologic anomaly in the sense that it is not actually a lake but rather an area in which the Maligne River (flowing from Maligne Lake into the Athabasca River) backs up and suddenly disappears underground as a losing stream. During the summer months during intensified meltwater runoff, the lake (which during the winter months is a meandering frozen river) fills to levels which fluctuate over time and with the runoff events. Much like a bathtub that is filled too fast for it to drain, it becomes laden with water until it can slowly drain as the tap flow is reduced.
The scene was captured in the depths of winter, the riverbed had completely drained out, and all that was left was the bare ground that was completely covered in a thick layer of snow. As the winter sun rose behind Annunciation Peak the thick rays of sunlight filled the valley providing a tremendous sense of warmth in what had been a cold, desolate wasteland only moments prior.</image:caption>
