Into the Wild Bus - Vibes 2

Stampede Trail, Alaska

The Into The Wild bus photos are very special to me. In 2014, I hiked to the bus Christopher McCandless called home for 100 days. The story of Chris McCandless which was popularized in the book and film Into The Wild was a very big inspiration for me to move to Canada.

I travelled to Alaska from Canada at the end of my first visa for the sole reason of seeing the bus with my eye own eyes. It was a two-day hike to get to the bus, 52km total round trip. Crossing the Teklanika River was exceptionally difficult and nearly forced us to turn back (several people have died attempting to cross).

Sleeping in the bus was the most peaceful, tranquil rest of my entire life. In such a busy world it felt like I was in the exact place I was meant to be.

I was still quite pretty new to photography at the time, I had my old Canon 7D Mk 1. Still so happy with how the images turned out. Photo © copyright by Alexander Jones.
